Kroger Recipe of the Week

Each week I am teaming up with Coupon Katarina  to bring you a recipe that you can use with what is on sale at Kroger.
BUY: Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage (14-16 oz) – $2.99
USE:  $0.75/2 Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage from 10/3 RP
FP: $2.62 {or $2.24 each if your store doubles}
BUY: Birds Eye or Freshlike Vegetables (10-28 oz) – $1.99
USE: $1.00/3 Birds Eye Steamfresh Frozen Vegetables from 9/26 SS
FP: $1.65each {or $1.32 each if your store doubles}

12 ounces rigatoni (about 4 1/2 cups)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, sliced
6 ounces of Smoked Sausage, sliced
2 cups of frozen Broccoli
1/4 cup grated Parmesan (1 ounce)
Cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the onion, stirring often, for 3 minutes.
Add the sausage and cook, stirring, until browned, 2 to 3 minutes.
Add the broccoli and 1 ¼ cups water and simmer, covered, until the broccoli is tender, 5 to 6 minutes.
Toss the pasta with the sausage mixture, including any remaining liquid, and the Parmesan.
